This is my Linux page. I've been using Linux since at least 1997, and has pretty much been my desktop since 1998 or so. I prefer KDE as my Desktop environment, and have since version 1. I run Linux on a variety of different computer archs, including x86, alpha, arm, and sparc. I've done some work programming. Some of it is here. The biggest project I've done is sloppyadm, which is hosted on sourceforge. I've gotten almost all the programs I could want working. Another accomplishment was getting mplayer to run on Zaurus.

Programs that I think need to be worked on, as we are behind other operating systems (dipite the pitiful state these are in on some of them)

  • Speech Recognition, in a usable form. CMU Sphinx is a good start, but there needs to be more, and a standard set of commands that give certain results.
  • Handwriting Recognition, this seems to be an area that is particularly lacking, in non Opie/Qtopia enironments.
  • Speech Sythesis, as in having desktop environemnts read things out loud.
